Gender Based Violence (GBV) Program

The GBV Program is implemented through the Tamar Campaign. This program aims to break the silence on Violence against Women (VAW) at the community and institutional level. It is implemented in YWCA Mwanza, Bunda and Magu branches since 2008. The program has supported the development of over 120 Village and Community Banking (VICOBA) Groups, one community legal assistance center, over 20 Contextual Bible Study groups and trained over 450 religious leaders on how to speak out against VAW. Additionally, over 8000 students have also been reached with VAW messaging. This program is funded by the Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) of Tanzania.
