The injustice of gender violence was brought to the forefront of conversations at YWCA open events held recently in Bunda, Magu and Mwanza to commemorate the 16 days of Activism Against Gender Violence International Campaign.

Each event had speeches from YWCA leadership, survivors of GBV and community leaders, and dance and drama performances that contained messages on GBV. At the Mwanza event law students from St. Augustine University set up a stand on the day to offer legal advice The Bunda event was held on December 2nd, Mwanza December 5th and Magu December 10th.

The events were a component of our Tamar Campaign, a coordinated Gender Based Violence prevention and support program which among other actions encourages people to break the silence on GBV. Funding for the Tamar Campaign is through Norwegian Church Aid
